Privacy Policy

Your location
This site asks for your location only to show winter storm warnings and weather where you are. Precise location (GPS) is requested with your explicit consent via your browser. If you decline, we fall back to an approximate location from your IP address. We do not store, sell, or share your coordinates. They are used in your browser to query weather services and then discarded.
What data leaves your device
To produce a forecast, your approximate coordinates are sent directly from your browser to:
- Open-Meteo — weather forecast (no account, no tracking).
- BigDataCloud — converts coordinates to a place name.
- National Weather Service (weather.gov) — official US winter storm warnings (US locations only).
- ipapi.co — approximate location only if GPS is unavailable.
Each provider has its own privacy policy. This site runs with no server that logs your visits.
Storage on your device
We store your unit preference (°C/°F) and the name of your last viewed location in your browser's local storage so the app remembers your choices. You can clear this any time via your browser settings.
Cookies & tracking
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies.
Disclaimer
The computed risk index is a forecast estimate, not an official winter storm warning. Always follow your national meteorological agency and local authorities.
